Permanent junior researcher application (deadline 14 march 2024)

Job offer from Christèle Humblot, Active member of the Pimento community: Permanent junior researcher application (deadline 14 march 2024)

Permanent junior researcher application IRD 14 march 2024 to join the research unit QUALISUD team 6 ” Diet, Nutrition, Health of population in the global South” (https://umr-qualisud.cirad.fr/recherche/equipes-de-recherche/alimentation-nutrition-sante-des-populations-aux-suds/contexte-et-enjeu)

The Join Research Unit QUALISUD (Development of an integrated approach for the controlled and sustainable production of food with optimal organoleptic, health and nutritional qualities) is interested in the food processing, post-harvest process, the appreciation of the sensory and nutritional quality, health benefits, safety and technological properties of the foods.

The team is interested in ways to improve the nutritional quality of foods consumed by vulnerable groups in developing countries. It develops research on the relationships between food matrices and transformation processes, agrobiodiversity, microbiota and host. For example, the formulation of fermented foods of high nutritional quality requires the implementation of different methods of microbiology and biochemistry, allowing the identification of the actors of fermentations, the characterization of their functions and their application to design foods of good nutritional quality.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary collective (epidemiology, food science) working on an innovative and current field, the study of food and intestinal microbiota. In a dynamic team of around ten people you’ll participate in projects of different sizes with the aim of contributing to the resolution of nutritional problems in the South. The approaches developed by the team are original and focus on undernutrition and the use of microorganisms to fight dietary deficiencies. The multicultural environment, collaborations involving public and private organizations in Africa, Asia and France will allow you to participate in the implementation of concrete solutions to fight malnutrition.

Five positions are opened in the specialized scientific commission “Biological and medical sciences” (CSS2) which covers the following areas of expertise: human health, nutrition and life sciences (animal, plant, viral, microbiological) in genetics and physiology.
