Since January 2022, Working Group 2 (WG2) participants increased from 86 to 203 by May 2023, organized into 10 subgroups with assigned leaders and co-leaders. The questionnaire was designed from January to July 2022 (first WG2 meeting in Limassol) and implementation started in September 2022. Regular monthly online meetings support subgroup work.
Bottlenecks : data mining on fermented food consumption (coordinated by Michail Syras and Emmanuella Magriplis) remains challenging, especially for production volume data from national authorities, associations and campanies. Leader inolvement and coordination among countries also pose difficulties.
Achievements and next steps : despite challenges, most data have been collected. Some countries and one subgroup (BE, IE, NL) have not met goals. Plans include completing data collection by December 2023, validating the questionnaire by June 2024, building and updating and interactive cartography and discussing and opinion paper.
